APOSTOLICS
Among the social upheavals of the 60s and 70s in Portugal, the first group of ladies from the group that would become the Alliance of St. Mary felt the urgent need to proclaim the Gospel and the Message of Fatima, which they saw as a gift from God of singular importance. From 1974 onwards, they intensified their apostolic work, spreading the prayer of the rosary, as well as Our Lady's requests for reparation and consecration. From this sprang the lay movements linked to the Congregation: the National Rosary Crusade, Luzeiros de Santa Maria and Aliados Reparadores. Later, the Little Shepherds' Light also emerged, with children and teenagers.

The Congregation strives, first and foremost, to give flesh to the reality of the Gospel in the concrete lives of its members. From there, all apostolic activity stems from the desire to be witnesses to Jesus Christ and his compassionate love for humanity, as were so many saints, notably Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto.

With prayer and contemplation as its source of apostolic action, the Congregation collaborates in the Church's evangelizing task by spreading the Message of Fatima, deepening the spiritual life of Christians and promoting commitment to God and humanity in building the Kingdom.

Among the various types of apostolate, we highlight the dissemination of Our Lady's requests at Fatima, such as praying the rosary, making reparation and, more specifically, the devotion of the First Saturdays and the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
