What's new: What new light do you see?

Filomena Brito
Novice of the Covenant of St. Mary
Last weekend, from March 14 to 16, 14 young people, of different ages and from different parts of the country, gathered in Fatima to discover what new light there is this Lent.

The meeting began in the Chapel of the Apparitions, with the prayer of the Rosary. Thus, under the light that Our Lady brought to the three little shepherds, the young people walked a path through the Luminous Mysteries. They recalled the certainty given by Baptismof being the Father's much-loved children; passed through the desert with the essentials to learn how to overcome temptations and discover in them the invitation to conversion. Accompanied by the maternal and attentive presence of Virgin Maryready to lead them to Jesus, climbed the hills to which He sent them, raising them to the heights of His cross, to the heights of His surrender in every Eucharist.

This was also a meeting where they could show their art and creativity, with time for "freeze" and look at life in a new way. Now they leave with the will to be the luminous mystery that Jesus wants to make of their lives.

We hope that this meeting will illuminate our Lent with the Paschal Light: a light to be placed high on the lampstand of each person's heart, and thus give light to all those in the house (cf. Mt 5:15).

Testimonials

- "For me, it was an experience that changed my view of Lent. I realized that, apart from me, there are other young Christians like me and it was great to meet new people. I take the reflections we made over the weekend into my daily life. It was a very personal encounter with Jesus and the reason for all his suffering." Tatiana Santos

- "The "What's New?" meeting gave me a weekend of encounter with God and helped me to live this great season of Lent more intensely. With this "What's new?", I feel that I've come closer to God and that I'm better prepared to make the climb up the mountain until I reach Easter and joyfully celebrate Jesus' resurrection."
