Jubilee of the Missionaries of Mercy

This time, from Friday, March 28 until Sunday, March 30, priests instituted by Pope Francis as Missionaries of Mercy came to Rome from all over the world to celebrate the Jubilee dedicated to them.

The celebration of this Jubilee also coincides with the 10th anniversary of their existence. The Missionaries of Mercy were instituted by the Holy Father with the Bull of Proclamation of the last Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy (2015-2016), Misericordiae Vultus, to be "a sign of the Church's maternal concern for the people of God" (no. 11).

The highlights of this jubilee event, which included various moments of encounter, were the penitential celebration of the “24 Hours for the Lord” on Friday, with confessions and Eucharistic adoration, and the prayer of the rosary at the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens on Saturday. These were two powerful moments of prayer, in which it was possible to experience what Pope Francis, who was absent due to his period of convalescence, recalled in the Message he left for these priests: "with his mercy, God transforms us inwardly, changes our hearts: the Lord's forgiveness is a source of hope"! In praying the rosary, before the image of the Immaculate Virgin of Lourdes, each priest was able to entrust himself to this Mother of Mercy, the image of the Father's heart that never abandons us.
