GRAPHIC IDENTITY

The identity, charism and mission of the Aliança de Santa Maria are expressed in the elements that are present in in this graphic identity.

A cross is at the center because the center of our life, and what is essential in it, is Jesus Christ, in his paschal mystery. Marked, since Baptism, by the sign of the cross, we know that we are called to a life of special consecration, which is the vocation to take part, consciously and freely, in the paschal mystery of the Lord Jesus. This is in the shape of the cross on 16th century caravels, taking us back to the birthplace of this Congregation, Portugal, in its desire to evangelize and bring the faith in Christ to the world. The universality of this mission is evident in the extension of the ends of the arms of the cross.

A blue color highlights the Marian dimension of this Congregation. It is through the ‘covenant of love with St. Mary’ (cf. Constitutions, 6) and through the Message of Fatima that we bring the one Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

The cross is torn in its center by two hearts. The Angel of Peace announced to the little shepherds that “the hearts of Jesus and Mary have designs of mercy for you”. We recognize our life and our vocation as an expression of the mercy of their love for us, and we want to help ensure that this love reaches every human being.

Surrounding this center are four circles These golden circles point to our consecration in the Covenant of St. Mary, through the four vows of life: chastity, poverty, obedience and unity. These circles also refer to the mysteries of the rosary - joyful, luminous, sorrowful and glorious - the most constant request of the Lady of the Immaculate Heart.

A golden color of these circles evokes the light of God that surrounds us in love, that illuminates us and that we are invited to carry, like “lamps that he lights”, to illuminate this restless and dark world.

The dimension of the incarnation of our charism in history - alive, dynamic, faithful to what is essential but invited to read the “signs of the times” attentively - is reflected in the dynamism present in the intersecting circles.

A white color translates the fundamental attitude of our life: availability of heart, made pure by inner freedom, so that the Holy Spirit can, according to the Father's plan, configure us with Jesus Christ, our Bridegroom crucified.
