IGNIS Retreat 2025 | "I wish, I hope, I trust"

From April 4 to 6, some young people gathered at the formation house to pray together in silence. It was the IGNIS Youth Retreat: A Time of Grace and Truth. We had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in God, starting from the experience and life of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, presented by Carmelite Father João Rego.

Two participants told us:

At the IGNIS retreat, through silence, I was able to learn to listen and meditate on what God was saying to me. This retreat was about getting to know Teresinha, "a weak and imperfect saint", just like us. It was she who showed me, among many other things, the true love of God, "merciful love", the love that guides our lives. She was also the one who drew my attention to the importance of being "small" and fragile, just as God did, becoming small and fragile to the point of fitting into the tabernacle and placing himself "at our mercy" in our hands every time we receive Communion!

The IGNIS retreat was a transforming encounter with Jesus, where I learned to abandon myself into his arms with total trust. In the silence, I listened to the echo of "I desire, I hope, I trust" as a path of surrender. It was an experience of simple and profound love, where trust became prayer and abandonment became freedom. There, I realized that being small is, after all, the shortest way to the Infinite.
