Fifth Sunday of Lent | Jesus talks to the Father and is recognized by the centurion

«I am not alone because the Father is with me». They crucified your body. The hands that healed, the feet that walked and through which you announced the Kingdom. How could you go on talking about the Father if your voice was cut off? You reached so few... and those to whom you spoke understood nothing of your words... Why die so soon? Why die like this?

Even though the winds are contrary and the circumstances contradictory, love believes all things and hopes all things. You trusted and waited for the Father to find a way to give birth to life where there was only death and abandonment: «Father, into your hands I commend my spirit». And all was accomplished. Seeing you die, the centurion saw you. This man is truly the Son. The Son who entrusted himself to the Father and loved him. The Son in whom he was son and brother.

Lord Jesus, who has left the uncertain future of your life and mission in the hands of the Father, grant me the grace to contemplate your Passion and to recognize, like the Centurion, that you are the Son, in whom I am a son and brother.
